From a Washington perspective, admittedly jaundiced over having endured far worse charges against U.S. combat forces and contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan for years, the CF treatment of its detainees looks like a tempest in a thimble.WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Prime Minister has deferred rather than dodged the bullet.
Having prorogued Parliament, among other benefits, the acrimonious and unproductive hearings into Canadian Forces treatment of Afghan detainees in 2006 have been suspended. The government has two months to decide how to address the issue—if at all.
