Tories to have most Senate seats by January, majority by next November

Opposition MPs say the Conservatives have abandoned their principles on Senate reform because they will have most of the seats in January 2010.

If Prime Minister Stephen Harper continues to fill the Senate with Tories, the Conservatives will have more seats than the Grits by January 2010 for the first time since 1990 when prime minister Brian Mulroney had to briefly increase the size of the Senate and stack it to get the goods and services tax passed.

But the government is still committed to Senate reform although it's not a priority, says Canada's Democratic Reform Minister...
